Panel 4's line needs to be fixed.

I'm hoping it should be "So you kept me from knowing?" Otherwise, it's the first time I cannot decipher your wording.

i don't think i have ever heard of dream death. i understand the gift of madness, not so much what he means by the gift of sleep. did the pookahs have easier time resting with madness? Dream death and madness to sing in the dark, are those phrases from somewhere?

@aqua: I think the idea is that the "awareness" part of self goes to sleep. That is, given the choice of being aware of just how bad your life is, or just living it until something else can happen to make it better, you at least avoid the pain of living with knowing how much your life hurts.

@rmccool: Given the comment that without the marriage, and reinforcements, there would be no Lan; and, that we know that Hades worked very hard to make sure that Lan was born; the question is, how much choice did the god even have?

Could Hades have done nothing, left them sapient, let Spenser find out and work for their freedom, if the result would have been a failure of his own plans to bring Lan into the world? Or does Lan's existence require that the pooka are oppressed?

Such a thought for Lan to think of: he exists because his kind is treated this way.

@Cheerful_dragon: Hades only influenced a few things after Lan was born to effect him, first of which (confirmed and reason to believe influence) was the vampire Walter Kess saving him from dying in the snow after the rest of his family was killed, the time he was enslaved gave him the stomach for war, even if he hates every bit of it he can fight should he need to, loosing his children was a matter of time, expedited by him being named the young Hades, the only other notable influence on Lan was amping up the protection spell he used and causing the helicopter with Wade in it to crash.

@Cheerful_dragon: also he never made them non sapient, he gave them the hope that if they could never be free in life they would be free in non-self inflicted death, and any hope can keep people going no matter how grim the hope or situation.

@Cheerful_dragon: it a Q Lan will someday ask Hadies..why me why this..andrew greely wrote a book called the god game in it he suggest the gods power is limited by freewill that there best efforts are to help often fail
